Common Paper Jams

13.20 Jam in Fuser area of HP 3015.

Question:
I replaced the fuser and getting a 13.20 fuser jam and I have taken the fuser out and reisntalled. Obviously a phantom jam. Has anyone else had this issue?

Repsonse:
Correct. This machine however has had a history of constant jams. We are a Children's Hospital and I am the technician. Even for techs, sometimes two heads are better than one. I don't hesitate to reach out to fellow techs for help. Thank you for your help and I will accept this as the solution. Have a great day! Paul

HP Laserjet P3015 - Paperjams

Question:
I just purchased this printer in August 2015 and it keeps jamming every two pages. The most I got it to print at once was 15 pages when I used tray 1, but then it started jamming as well. The issue started 3 weeks ago. I finally unplugged and switched to a different printer. Any help appreciated. I have done the obvious things such as turn it off, restart, tried on another computer, checked for stuck paper or small pieces. Nothing has worked. It is brand new.

Response:

That's an error generated for the fuser and paper exit area. I would contact the company you purchased the printer from and let them know what it going on, if you havn't already. It possible you have a bad/old fuser or a damaged or blocked sensor.  I don't mind trying to help you solve the problem, but I don't want to frustrate you either. The fuser for this model is not something you can easily take out if you havn't before, and I'm pretty sure it's not a customer replaceable item.

You can print with the rear door of this printer open and the paper will exit the back of the machine. Pull the rear door open one click (about 45 degrees) and try. If the paper comes out ok without jamming, then the problem is probably with the exit sensor located near where the paper comes out of the top of the machine. You'll see one skinny black plastic tab in the center, and two larger black tabs on either side of it. The should move freely without sticking.

If the paper still jams, then the problem is probably with the fuser. Either way, the company you purchased this from should be willing to help you out if there is a defective part or loose connection somewhere.

Are you printing on just plain 20# bond 8.5x11 or something heavier like cardstock or labels?

Question:
We've had our MFP M277dw for less than a year and are experiencing almost constant papertray jams.  It sounds like there is some issue with a roller and when it finally makes contact, it crinkles the paper a little and it jams. We are then asked to add paper, then we remove thejammed piece and then it says "cleaning" for a bit then jams again. We have tried differentpapers and nothing seems to help. Are there any adjustments that we can make? Thank you!

Response:
Please try cleaning the rollers in Tray 1 and 2. Also, just remove all papers and readjust the paper guides on the tray.

Laserjet 4000T False paper jam - Attention light remains on

Question:

received a paper jam message but when I searched carefully there was no paper jam.  I pulled out the paper trays and lifted the lid on the printer but nothing turns off the attention light.  I even tried to unplug then plug back in the printer, yet the attention light comes right back on.  Now the orange attention light remains on and nothing I do assures the printer there is no jam, so the attention light will not go off.   What do I do to get the printer to acknowledge that there is no paper jam and turn off the attentionlight so the printer can go back to a usable ready state?  Please help me ASAP.  I am working on a deadline.

Response:
It was a paper jam alright, but I couldn't find any paper anywhere, and using the heavyweight paper to push out the jam wasn't working.  I went to feedroller.com and looked up my specific printer.  I tried their troubleshooting and it mentioned fusers, registration assemblies, transfer rollers, sensors and flags, which was all greek to me.  Near the bottom of the list of articles I saw a link to videos.  I clicked and it took me to YouTube.  There was nothing specific about a 13.20 paper jam for my HP LaserJet 4000T, but there was one called "How To Fix HP Printer Error 13.20 in HP 4200 4250 4300 4350 Series Printer".  I watched and learned how other somewhat similar HP printers came apart after the ink cartridge came out.  I tried the approximate same thing with my printer and discovered an entire sheet of paper bunched up in the roller behind the flipper.  When I removed it the printer immediately shut off the Attention light and went back to ready mode!

HP Laserjet 4015 paper jam

Question:

PC still has paperjam message in the control panel, but the jam was cleared and the HP4215 has no error message.  How to clear the status on the computer

Response:
I see you are experiencing paper jam errors.  I would like to help.

I would recommend disconnecting the power cord from the printer for 60 seconds.  Then plug the printer back in. Plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any power bar or surge protester.
